An intimate experience, the class focuses on combinations of materials, hand embellishment, and the sheer time it takes to produce pieces of true individuality. In her own inimitable style, Sandra demonstrates that what you don’t see is as important as what you do. If you’ve ever wondered what makes couture exclusive, you’ll find the answer in Behind the Seams.

The Collage Culture masterclass is all about the Heirloom Bodice. A Sandra Murray signature piece, you’ll learn about the inspiration behind it – a tartan designed by a primary school child to celebrate the Highland Year of Culture 2007. Since only one of each type of bodice is ever made, Sandra invites you to consider the meaning of individuality, with reference to the wool, lace, linen and hand appliqué techniques used to create each one. An informative insight into how a couture garment reflects its wearer’s style and personality.
